Rachel Major soprano

I’d searched for a singer to perform the songs on Glad Day for quite some time and from the moment I heard Rachel sing the first note I had a good feeling. It wasn’t just the beautiful pure tone of her voice but also her musicality, the way she approached the songs and the interpretation was perfect. As can be clearly heard from the recordings she has a wonderful talent.

Having earned a choral scholarship at Royal Holloway College, London, Rachel has gone on to perform extensively, both solo roles and as part of several ensembles. As a founder member of a cappella ensemble Voces8, she has travelled throughout the UK, Europe and America, featured on both BBC and local radio, and made a number of CD recordings.

Recent recordings include a disc of Reger’s secular motets with the London ensemble Consortium, due for release in 2010 on the Hyperion label, and is also to be heard singing with Howard Goodall’s Enchanted Voices at various UK venues on the Classic FM tours and on their forthcoming CD of Psalm Settings to be released in May.
